Bike Week 2021

07/06/2021

This week (7th – 13th June) is Bike Week – and with quite a few cycling enthusiasts among us here at Eadon Consulting, this annual celebration of all things bike related is right up our street.

The event, set up by UK cycling charity Cycling UK, has been running since 1923. The effects of the pandemic has caused many people’s physical and mental health to suffer – so this year Bike Week focuses on how cycling boosts our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.

Did you know…

  • Cycling to work can mean you have a 45% lower risk of developing cancer, and a 46% lower risk of cardiovascular disease.
  • If you cycle regularly in adulthood, you will enjoy a level of fitness equivalent to someone 10 years younger.
  • If all cycle journeys increased from the current level of 2% to 25% by 2050, the collective benefit would be £248bn.1

We recognise the health and environmental benefits of cycling and are committed to being a cycling friendly employer. Our office has measures in place such as secure bike storage, clothes drying cubical and showers at the office to encourage people to commute on bike. Plus, we have quite a few keen cyclists in the team which has led to several social group bike rides over the years.

And our passion for cycling extends into our work too. We have worked on several cycle bridges including the Lille Langebro cycle and pedestrian bridge in the cycling capital of the world, Copenhagen!
