The Boston Barrier Flood Defence Scheme has been recognised with an award at the RICS Social Impact Awards 2020, East Midlands. The award was for the best infrastructure project covering projects relating to transport systems, power generation, water and sewage treatment, sea defences and IT networks.

The award was give to the project in acknowledgment of the regeneration that has been enabled by the construction of the gate. The scheme, the centre piece of which is a large rising sector gate, was built to protect against devastating floods that were experienced in 2013 and which caused extensive damage to property and land.
