Building on our Structural Engineering expertise

At Eadon, we’re committed to expanding our expertise and continually look for ways to build upon our engineering knowledge and stay abreast of this ever-evolving industry. We recently participated in a couple of interesting external training sessions in the field of Structural Engineering.

The Steel Construction Institute  ‘NSSS & EN1090-2’ webinar offered us valuable insights into specification clauses. It explored the National Structural Steelwork Specification (NSSS) as the primary ‘execution specification’ for building structures and outlined requirements from BS EN 1090-2, including aspects like fabrication and erection tolerances. It also covered information on materials, workmanship, welding, and the communication flow between designers and steelwork contractors.

We were also pleased to take part in a webinar hosted by Engineered Training Solutions on structural reliability. The training covered the basics of structural safety, random variables for failure probability estimation; as well as advanced topics like FORM, Monte Carlo simulation, limit state codes and reliability-based design. This was a really valuable course which gave us a deeper insight into structural reliability analysis and design.
