Eadon Consulting have been exploring what it means to collaborate and be truly innovative in Engineering, at a number of events organised by the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE).

At the international conference in Bath we took part in sessions exploring conceptual design, and listened to fascinating key note addresses showcasing the work of Foster + Partners and Buro Happold. One of the highlights of the two-day conference was participating in a “how to have ideas” workshop run by ThinkUp, whilst the most terrifying part was delivering a rapid-fire Pecha Kucha style presentation to the entire conference.

Back home in Sheffield, Eadon were delighted to sponsor the IABSE Future of design 2017, a full day conference and dinner at Sheffield University, aimed at promoting innovation and inspiring designers of the future. The event was a huge success with inspiring key-note presentations from Eckersley O’Callaghanshowcasing their ground-breaking glass structure, Webb Yates explaining how they are pushing the limits of contemporary stone engineering, and a fascinating insight into the design and construction of the Brighton i360 tower. Eadon’s own Nick Francis gave a key-note presentation on innovation in engineering, drawing on his extensive military experience to see how military decision making process can offer valuable lessons to clients, architects and engineers.
