Combat Ship Contract

14/11/2016

Eadon Consulting is pleased to advise that it has been contracted by BAE Systems to work on the programme for the new Type 26 Global Combat Ship to be built at their Govan and Scotstoun sites in Scotland.

Working with the BAE Systems design team in Glasgow and at our home office we will be assisting development of bespoke access equipment to improve the safety and efficiency of the ship build process.  Eadon are looking forward to working with BAE Systems on what will be an interesting and challenging project, applying our knowledge and experience from the bridge access sector to ship construction.

The Type 26 Global Combat Ship will be a world-class anti-submarine warfare ship and will replace the eight anti-submarine warfare variant Type 23 frigates. Globally deployable, it will be capable of undertaking a wide range of roles from high intensity warfare to humanitarian assistance, either operating independently or as part of a task group.

As recently announced by Defence Secretary Michael Fallon, the first steel will be cut on Type 26 in summer 2017, subject to final contract negotiations with the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD).
