Tidal and offshore wind have been targeted by the government as being critical to assist the UK with its commitment to a low carbon economy, with Gordon Brown stating “Our policies in support of offshore wind energy have already put us ahead of every other country in the world, the offshore wind industry is at the heart of the UK economy’s shift to low carbon”.

As part of Eadon’s ongoing commitment to support all areas of power generation, members of Eadon’s staff attended the Offshore Wind Supply Chain Event 2010 organised by Yorkshire Forward and The Crown Estate. The event was attended by many of the industry’s leading wind energy companies and also prominent decision makers including the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change; Ed Miliband. At the event the importance of wind energy and the part it can play in supplying the UK’s energy needs was discussed along with the hurdles and technical issues that need to be addressed.
