The Humber Bridge Main Span Bearing Replacement Project has been shortlisted for the Prime Minister’s Better Public Building Award.

The award recognises excellence in construction and design for buildings and civil engineering projects and identifies publicly funded construction projects that are completed on time, on budget and bring real change to their local community.

Eadon Consulting, working with Arup, provided advice and assistance with the mechanical parts of the replacement bearing solution, and also completed the design of a temporary jacking system that was used to provide an accurate estimate of the amount of bridge weight supported by each bearing.

The award for the winning project will be presented at the British Construction Industry Awards ceremony in Park Lane later this month.
