Life after Graduation

Oscar’s primary focus so far has been in the bridges sector. He’s currently working on the new Lighterage Quay, in Truro swing bridge, which he is scoping and performing initial calculations for. “Working on the initial stages of this project has been really interesting,” he explained. “As we go through the basic design concepts, I’m learning a lot because it’s not something I’ve really done before.”
He is delighted to have recently started doing research tasks for a potential new nuclear project. “I really enjoy R&D focused work,” he said “so I’m especially excited for this one.”
Meanwhile, Callum has been gaining valuable experience working on two nuclear projects for Sellafield – the Alpha Study and REACH. He’s looking forward to contributing to the further advancement of the REACH project by developing a swivel module. While the current hinge module enables the offsetting of modules at a specific angle, the swivel module will provide an additional degree of freedom by allowing for the rotation of offset modules by a specific amount. This feature will provide greater flexibility and will enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of REACH.
Callum appreciates the friendly work environment at Eadon and is grateful for the support he has received from his colleagues. “I’ve really enjoyed learning programs like Solidworks, which weren’t covered in my university course,” he said. “I’m excited about the challenges ahead and am looking forward to working in other sectors too.”
