Lille Langebro Swing Bridge shortlisted for RIBA Award
Eadon is very excited that the Lille Langebro Swing Bridge has been shortlisted for a RIBA International Prize 2021.
The RIBA has been celebrating outstanding work for over 180 years and the awards are regarded internationally as a mark of excellence.
The Lille Langebro Swing Bridge is one of just three exceptional projects on the RIBA International Prize shortlist which have been selected from the RIBA International Awards for Excellence winners.
The 160m long, pedestrian and cycle double swing bridge is located at Vester Voldgard in Copenhagen. We worked together with Buro Happold, Wilkinson Eyre and Niras to produce the design of this architecturally striking and technically challenging bridge. Our role was to produce the detailed concept design of the operating equipment which allowed the architectural vision to be realised whilst also ensuring that the operating equipment, used to control the 2 central moving decks, is reliable and maintainable.
The three shortlisted projects were selected from a long list of 16 projects, with this year’s shortlist judged by a grand jury that is chaired by French architect and urban planner Odile Decq.
The winners will be announced early next year.
The Lille Langebro Swing Bridge also recently won the Award for best Footbridge or lightweight structure as well as the joint Supreme Award for Excellence in Engineering at the IStructE 2021 Awards this month.
