Merchant Square Bridge has won a 2015 Structural Steel Design Award. The awards which have previously recognised and rewarded many of the best examples of ambition and innovation, acknowledge the excellence achieved with the use of steel, as well as structural and architectural design.

This year’s judges selected the award winning entries from a shortlist of 14, all of which scored highly in terms of efficiency, cost effectiveness, aesthetics, sustainability and innovation.

The unique and instantly recognisable Merchant Square Footbridge, which is formed from five fingers each raised by hydraulic cylinders, provides the area with another novel structure, keeping in the tradition of exciting sculptural bridges in steelwork at this development. Read more here
