This month Eadon Consulting have completed work on several sets of design calculations for various mitre gates located around the country after being approached earlier in the year by Martin Childs Limited.

Eadon’s role was to check Martin Childs original timber structure designs and provide feedback on any design changes needed to meet the required (Eurodcode 5) standard. This involved establishing specific water pressure conditions and assessing the timbers ability to resist bending and shear caused by this pressure. Our Design Engineers also looked at the stress concentrations at the Mortice and Tenon joints.

Additionally Eadon also designed the top Anchor for one set of gates at Chelsea Creek and checked some of the mitre gate lifting equipment, both to Eurocode.
