New Appointment at Eadon Consulting
Sarah Lee joins Eadon from Halcrow Group Limited, where she was an assistant engineer in the nuclear section of the Power division. Prior to this Sarah worked for the NHS as a clinical engineer and for adidas as a design engineer.
Sarah studied mechanical engineering at Aston University, and throughout her career has applied finite element analysis to the design and development of a range of engineering products.
Whilst at Halcrow, Sarah worked on a major project for the structural analysis and design of three seismically qualified nuclear safety-related concrete buildings as part of a new nuclear facility, involving production of construction details and substantiation documentation to meet the safety requirements of the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate (NII). The buildings were designed to fulfil a no-collapse function under extreme weather and seismic loading.
Sarah was responsible for designing the global reinforcement for one of these structures, as well as for detailed designs, such as the anchorage requirements for external security doors, required to resist high impact loads, and the holding-down anchorages for cabinets with a no-topple/ductile failure requirement, which included performing time history and response spectrum analyses of global and sub-frame models.
Sarah also worked on the bid submission for the third set of locks project for the Panama canal, which involved the preliminary analysis and design of a proposed 34m high, 57m span, 4000 tonne lock gate to BS 5400, designed against the effects of a 0.5g ZPA seismic event.
