Engineering design consultancy Eadon Consulting has announced the appointment of Ian Hylands as the company’s new senior engineer.

Ian joins Eadon from Atkins, where he was an engineering consultant within its nuclear group, following three years at MG Bennett & Associates.

Ian studied engineering at Cambridge University, and has extensive experience in horizontal directional drilling and structural steelwork design. Throughout his career he has also worked on a wide range of mechanical engineering projects, including work in the fields of movable structures, pressure piping design and finite element analysis.

Major projects that Ian has worked on include the design of several horizontal directional drills for gas and oil pipeline installations at the Isle of Grain, and piping analysis and design work for Sellafield nuclear plant.

Commenting on the appointment, company director Michael Thorogood said: “The Eadon team are very pleased that Ian is joining us. His arrival brings additional capabilities which complement our existing skills. Ian’s technical knowledge and leadership experience will assist Eadon in its aims for company growth and development.”
