NIA’s Transport, Storage and Disposal of Radioactive Materials Conference

James Hill attended the Nuclear Institute’s international conference on the Transport, Storage and Disposal of Radioactive Materials.  The conference happens every three years and is dedicated to all aspects of packaging for the transport, storage and disposal of radioactive and nuclear materials.  It is an opportunity for experts form around the world to gather and discuss all aspects of the sector from the manufacture of containers, through to their ultimate disposal.

The program covered a variety of topics including an overview of the UK’s Geological Disposal Facility (GDF), development of larger waste containers for ILW and studies into the long term integrity of stainless steel waste containers.  James attended in relation to the work we are currently doing with Sellafield on an innovative design of ILW container through the Game Changers process.
