Eadon is pleased to have successfully completed a Category III check of a trailer unit within a Rapid Access Train (RAT) system on the Prince of Wales Bridge, near Bristol.

The cable-stayed motorway bridge connects South West England to South Wales. In order to facilitate inspections, repairs and maintenance, it has an RAT system on its underside which can safely transport workers and equipment. A key component of the system is a trailer unit equipped with an extendable platform designed to lift and lower equipment as needed.

Eadon was commissioned by Amey to perform a Category III check on the trailer unit as its platform had recently undergone design changes that required verification to ensure ongoing compliance with safety standards.

Our assessment was conducted in accordance with BS EN 1808 (which refers out to BS EN 1993-1-1) A Category III certificate was issued following successful completion of the checks.
