Structural Bearing Design & Validation (CAT 3)

As modern structural design develops and architect’s concepts become more complicated, standard off-the-shelf bearing designs are not always suitable due to unusual structural movements or loads. Novel solutions are required in order to design the structural bearings and ensure they can be accommodated in the available space.

Eadon Consulting have experience of the design of specialist structural bearings that can provide the interface between structures. These can be developed for different types of structures and applications, including moving bridges.

We are well placed to undertake projects of this nature due to their experience in producing detail designs of bearings, as well as performing independent design verification checks on third party designs (Category 3 checks).

Our knowledge of the different design codes, as well as experience of designing structures, ensures that we are able to develop designs that are optimised for particular applications. Depending on client requirements, we can design bearings to either BS 5400-9 or the newer BS EN1337 series design codes.  We also have experience using the American standard AASHTO LRFD 8.
