Twelve Quays

The Twelve Quays facility is a busy ferry terminal operating on the River Mersey, currently serving Stena Line routes from Belfast and selected Isle of Man Steam Packet Company services. The terminal uses a floating pontoon system, allowing vessels to load and unload efficiently as the tides change.

To accommodate modern multi-deck ferries, an elevated Ro-Ro (Roll-on/Roll-off) platform and ramp system was installed in 2020, incorporating a range of mechanical elements, including hydraulically operated ramps and associated equipment.

Beckett Rankine

Eadon Consulting carried out a mechanical condition assessment of the facility on behalf of Beckett Rankin as part of an ongoing inspection regime. The focus was on key components such as hydraulic cylinders, power packs, hinges and moving interfaces, as well as the wider loading ramp systems.

It was carried out through detailed visual inspection and photographic recording, covering both the newer multi-level installation and the existing infrastructure.

Eadon produced a condition report for the client, detailing the current state of the mechanical systems across the facility. It included clear recommendations for maintenance and any required remedial works to support the continued safe and reliable operation of the terminal.
