I joined Eadon Consulting in 2018 after graduating from a Mechanical Engineering degree at the University of Bath. Even though Eadon is a relatively small company they provided me with a structured and comprehensive development plan to transition the skills I had learnt at University to real world Engineering problems. My first few months were spent gaining knowledge with the industry leading CAD software, Solidworks. After this, I began building upon many of the mathematical techniques I was introduced to at University, applying them to various projects, with plenty of helpful guidance from the other experienced engineers in the office. I was then introduced to the more commercial side of the business, gaining experience in quoting, invoicing and project management. Although I have now completed the majority of my official training, I continue to learn and develop every day, as do the rest of the Eadon Team.
Since joining Eadon I have worked across a multitude of industries which has to be one of the best things about my job. Some of my highlights include, building a fully functioning inspection robot prototype that will be used to inspect decommissioned nuclear facilities, visiting some of the fabrications which I had drawn being used on a cable inspection gantry on the Humber Bridge, and working as project lead on the concept design for a new swing bridge in Glasgow.
As well as working on a huge variety of exciting and challenging engineering problems, I get to do it with a fantastic group of people. Everybody in the office is enthusiastic towards their own development as well as yours. We also regularly go out on group socials which include mountain biking, bowling and giant bouncy castle parks! This atmosphere means I look forward to going to work every day and couldn’t ask for a better place to be.
